What should I get for my eighth grade graduation?

I'm thirteen and I'm graduating eighth grade on my birthday in May. For my birthday I know I get to rearrange my room, but now my parents are asking me to give them a gift idea for my graduation. I don't know whether or not to ask for money or for something more extravagant? Can anyone help me figure out what to tell my parents.

P.S. I know that I want to grow up and go into the profession of medicine, I'm very into cultural things (for example anything that has to do with Asia, I'm infatuated with it). I'm a very dedicated academic student.

Congratulations on your graduation & birthday!

Firstly before any plans are made as to gift, ask your parents the amount allotted to your gift. That way you know upfront what you can realistically get within the budget and then you can start making your list and to decide what you really want.

Since you mentioned you are a keen academic with an interest in the field of medicine and you are interested in the asian culture you could ask your parents to put away some money for you in a savings account.

Later on down the line whether you decide to pursue medicine or instead take some time out to travel to Asia, the money saved would benefit and help you greatly.

On the other hand, depending on the budget you could do a little of both - if you choose to ask for money - you could use a little to help redecorate your room and save the rest for your dreams.

Just decide what your priorities are!
